My Video Production Experience

Hello and you know what?

Scratch that!

How are you guys doing this week? I believe awesome,  right?

So your girl did a thing this week, as my Communicating Science module took a new dimension this week, it had me walking the streets of London as a news correspondence. And yeah, it was fun!

So my most recent assessment was on video production. I was one of a four person group. And we produced a video on on a recent discovery; an artificial intelligence (AI) based mobile application that can predict depression by listening to someone speak.

So during the research and brainstorming stage,  it was all energetic for myself and my group members, then we finally arrived at a decision of the choice of discovery (Mentioned in previous paragraph) to base our video production on. Unfortunately,  the group that was so energetic and enthusiastic to be a part of gradually started becoming cold, energy going down. I don’t just want to excuse it as overload of coursework, but we had loads of it, with deadline of a lot of our coursework from different modules approaching,  and the fact that almost all my group members had part-time jobs didn’t make the coordination easy at a point.

But we finally got the slight push, finalised our research stage, scripted, and shot the video, then did our edit, something about “Team work makes the dream work” innit😊. Some of the group members film their parts virtually and submitted for final editing.  Shootout to Xhoana who joined me a the streets of London for the recording and interviewing of the general public on their views and perception of the idea of an AI model that can detect depression by listening to someone. My experience was awesome to say the least!😊.

Although, I believe my group could have done a lot better with our production quality and transitioning.  But it’s a first step, so I believe we learn and get better after every experience, especially for curious minds as mine.

So guys,  that’s the gist about my video production exploits ooo, I don’t know if that’s sufficient to add “video producer /news correspondents” to my CV, #just kidding.

Communicating Science module has been a hands-on module. It has been an entirely practical experience for me. My public speaking and writing skills have improved significantly. I have been watching TedX speeches on YouTube and attending conferences to learn the ropes. I loved the effort by the module leaders, bringing industry leaders and experts from the media to share their experiences and their guide to transition from classroom to the practical experience is wonderful. Communicating Science module has been very awesome.

Going forward, I will keep posting contents on my blog as the stages of my career, personal life, travels and experiences generally keep unfolding, and also get on podcasts and speaking engagements going forward.  I’m fired up!

So that’s it guys! Stay solid guys and you know, hang in there!
